Fans of Timothée Chalamet and Tyler the Creator should see “Marty Supreme” because this is some of Chalamet’s best work and Tyler Okonma stars in his first big movie. The whole cast offers their best in this, like Odessa A’zion as Rachel, Tyler Okonma as Wally and Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser. The cinematography, score, costume, and set designs are all highlights of the film that should be appreciated by everyone.

Marty is introduced as an over confident, ego-filled table tennis player who wants to succeed and wants to bring a wider attention to the sport of table tennis in the United States. The story is loosely based on Marty Reisman but the movie tells the story of Marty Mauser. After losing to Endo (Koto Kawaguchi) in the finals of the British Open he reaches new lows and starts to do anything for money.
While on the journey, Marty discovers new things that are seen as an obstacle for him to get through. “Dream Big,” the tagline of the movie, references how Marty always has high ambitions and wants to be the best no matter what.
Josh Safdie directed the movie and has received praise from throughout the community even receiving high praise from critics, even being nominated for best picture at the Golden Globes, with Timothée Chalamet winning the film award for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture at the Golden Globes. The movie currently sits at a 94 percent Tomatometer (critic score) and an 83 percent Popcornmeter (audience score) and has an 8.3/10 on IMDb.
A24 provided early screenings of “Marty Supreme” to New York City and Los Angeles audiences on Dec. 18 then to the rest of the U.S. on Dec. 25. The movie has earned $79 million so far on an estimated $70 million budget. The movie is playing in theaters all across the country and can be seen at AMC Bay Plaza in Bronx, New York.
The movie provided many fun and intense moments to drive the story which made it enjoyable. Throughout the movie, we see why we aren’t supposed to root for Marty because he is rude to everyone and isn’t afraid to exploit those around him to achieve what he wants and is willing to do anything to prove he is the best. Marty, after finally overcoming a personal and physical struggle, decides to settle down and appreciate the things he has in life.
