A guitar club organized by Pedro Rabeje, a U.S. history teacher, will begin in the fall. The club will give students a chance to learn basic guitar skills and meet others who share an interest in music.
Monique Paes, a teacher who also enjoys music, hopes to be involved as a backup supporter. “It feels nicer to have music around,” she said. ” We have talented students and it could help a lot of students emotionally.”
“Music brings a connection amongst people,” she said. “So the involvement in this club can help students and staff bond.”
“This isn’t the first guitar club,” Mr. Rabeje said. “Lehman High School once had a guitar club.”
He thinks the fall debut will be a nice start for students who bond over music. “Starting a guitar club could help students express themselves and connect with one another through music,” he said.
