Alexander Lyons, an eleventh grader, recently got the news that he made the varsity basketball team and can’t wait for the opportunities to improve as a player with the team.
Q:What made you start liking Basketball?
A: Stephen Curry and how he could effortlessly shoot a three-pointer and make it look cool.
Q: What are your hopes for the team?
A: To get playing minutes and further grow the team, maybe even win a championship.
Q: Do you want to continue playing after high school? Where?
A: I one-hundred percent want to and will play after high school. I would like to play at an HBCU, preferably Winston-Salem State.
Q: When did you start playing basketball?
A: I started playing in the seventh grade.
Q: What do you find most challenging about playing?
A: The emotional aspect, as you have to keep your cool if you miss a play, or a shot because the next one is not far away.
Q: How do you hope to improve?
A: I hope to use the basketball team as a means of developing my defense, offense and communication skills.
Q: What is some advice you would give to someone who wants to start playing basketball?
A: It’s never too late to start, but it will always be too late if you don’t try.
Q: What position do you play?
A: Every position except point guard.
Q:When is the first game?
A: We have scrimmages Nov. 20th and 21st but our first official game is on the 26th against Bronx Science.
