McDonald’s and Wendy’s, two of the oldest and most beloved fast-food chains, are known for their burgers and

fries. As with all competitors in the same industry, these two chains are in a constant race to outdo each other. The debate about which is better can be heated, especially when Franklin Sosa Araujo and Ayden Lema defend their favorite fast-food restaurants.
Franklin: When it comes to McDonald’s or Wendy’s, there’s no real comparison. McDonald’s is usually hit or miss depending on the location. The fries can be too salty, the service can be terrible, and not to mention, the infamous ice cream machine that’s always out of order.
Ayden: The prices for McDonald’s food are way cheaper than Wendy’s. McDonald’s charges $ 6.72 for a Big Mac. You’re also able to get a five-dollar meal that includes McChicken , McDouble or four-piece Chicken McNuggets, with small fries, and a small soft drink. The fries are not even that salty and if they were, you are able to request less salt; although I will not defend the ice cream machine. McDonald’s is known to have issues with its ice cream machine.
Franklin: The prices for McDonald’s might be lower but that’s because what you’re paying for is lower quality than the food at Wendy’s. Not to mention when ordering fries the expectation is that I won’t have to ask for less salt. If I do, then something is wrong with those fries.
Ayden: At the end of the day, you as the customer still have to place your order, so you still have to ask for things on the menu and if you want things a certain way, you also have to ask, I don’t see how that is much of an issue to ask for less salt. As the customer you’re making the order and you are able to ask for any adjustments you may have and you can work around it.
Franklin: If I go to Popeye’s and order fries, they aren’t too salty, if I go to Burger King and order fries, they aren’t too salty, so customizations may be available but if the only place where I have to make it known that I want less salt on my fries is McDonald’s, something is clearly wrong.
Ayden: That’s like expecting your burger or your sandwich to taste exactly the same just because they have similar ingredients; many fries are made differently and are meant to cater to different audiences. If you have that much of an issue with the fries. don’t eat them at McDonald’s or ask for less salt.
Franklin: Aside from the fries there are more reasons why Wendy’s is better than McDonald’s like the difference in value. The portions at Wendy’s are a bigger than the food at McDonald’s. For example, compare Dave’s Single to the Big Mac.
Ayden: Although McDonald’s food portions may be slightly smaller than Wendy’s, the food at Wendy’s is greasier and heavy to digest, causing you to have a stomachache.
Franklin: The food at Wendy’s may be greasier but it doesn’t cause stomachaches. If anything the food at Wendy’s is just more filling than the food at McDonald’s.
Ayden: By more filling do you also mean more unhealthy? Wendy’s has proven to be more unhealthy than the likes of McDonald’s food.
Franklin: Fast food is generally unhealthy; just because one is slightly unhealthier than another that doesn’t automatically make it better.
Ayden: Yes, that is true, but there are many alternatives if somebody wants to save on some calories to suit their diet.
Franklin: That’s enough for now. I’m getting hungry so I’m off to Wendy’s.
Ayden: I guess I’m on my way to enjoy better food at McDonald’s.
