During the days before Halloween, the hallways at school took on a spooky vibe. From spiders and spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling to CAUTION tape sprawled across the doors, it felt like you’d entered a haunted house.
Then on Oct. 31, the real fun started. During advisory, students got to go trick-or-treating outside the doors of their classrooms. Teachers stood at the door, handing out candy.
Many students and staff member also dressed up in full costumes.
Jayleen Godinez-Martinez dressed up as Gwen Stacy from “The Amazing Spider Man.” She picked her costume so she could match with her boyfriend who dressed up as Spiderman. Jayleen enjoys Halloween because she loves dressing up and bringing her ideas to life.

Inside the classrooms the fun continued. Many teachers prepared Halloween-infused lessons to keep the school day feeling festive. From spooky equations in algebra to scary stories read in ELA, the Halloween fun didn’t stop when it was time to learn.
The Halloween costume contest at lunch had many participants from all grades. There were three winners. Naomi Oyenuga, a senior, won third place with a mummy costume. AJ Lopez, a senior, won second place as The Thing from the Fantastic Four. Alexander Lyons, a junior, won first place.
The prizes for the winners were five-dollar snack store credit for third place, 10-dollar snack store credit for second place, and 25 dollars for the first place winner. The winners were chosen by student popular vote.
