Bronx Rver High sShool is excited to announce the opening of a new debate class in the spring semester. This class will be exclusively for 10th grade students with a higher reading level, providing them with a challenging and enriching learning experience. There are 25 students taking this class.

Debate is an important ability for students to have since it is a type of critical thinking and good communication. In addition to enhancing students’ speaking and reading skills, this course will teach them how to conduct thorough research, evaluate arguments, and make compelling presentations.

This class will be taught by Daniel Butler, a teacher who also teaches 12th grade English.. With his extensive background in English language and literature, Mr. Butler is the ideal choice to teach this new debate course. He hopes to inspire students to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop confidence in expressing their opinions.

According to Starr Giscombe, the assistant principal,  “This debate class is to provide an opportunity for high-performing individuals to hone their skills.” She believes that the ability to effectively communicate and argue is not only essential for academic performance, but also plays a crucial role in one’s personal and professional life.
