Students explore creativity in Art Club

Khasiem Norteye enjoys experimenting with different types of art.

Attention all Bronx River High School students: Are you interested in exploring your creative side? If so, join the Art Club led by advisors Amiee Cavazi and Evelyn Mendez.
“The Art Club offers students a place to practice their drawing skills, express themselves creatively and enjoy art,’’ said Amiee Cavazzi, an art teacher with 20 years of experience.
Jahayme Lamar, a junior, joined the art club “because it’s fun and I get to practice my drawing skills.’’
“ I enjoy drawing,” he said. His favorite project so far was an assignment where students wrote their name initials and decorated it.
Khasiem Norteye, another junior, says: “I had art class before, so I thought of joining the Art Club. I like that I get to use anything and all kinds of art ingredients.
He thinks that this club has shown him different ways to improve and express his emotions with art.
Freshman Hawaou Kobeogo adds: “I’ve been interested in art since I was little. It’s all about creativity and you get to express yourself in many ways with art.” She wishes to get better and learn more about art.
If you are interested in joining the Art Club, talk to Ms. Cavazzi or Ms. Mendez. The Art Club meets from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays in room 427.
