Students visited Barnard College this fall.

Several sophomore girls visited Barnard College as their first 10th grade college trip this fall. Barnard College, located on Broadway in Manhattan, is devoted to empowering young women to pursue their passions and is one of the most selective academic institutions in the nation. It has a partnership with Columbia University due to Colombia’s refusal to admit women years ago. It’s also an undergraduate college with Columbia University which means students are able to go to classes on both campuses. Barnard has an acceptance rate of  11.5 percent  and a graduation rate of 92 percent.

“I like that they allow you to have classes outside of the college and one doesn’t need to stay only on Barnard College grounds,’’ said Naomi Oyenuga, a sophomore, who visited the campus. “They could take classes in Columbia University where you can meet new people, move around, and experience college and social life.”

Britana Owen, a 10th grader, described Barnard’s campus as being beautiful and spacious, which is one of the reasons people want to go there.
