Danly Duverge, Fahim Choudhury, Issaka Kabora and Christopher Banks shared their experiences at Bronx River High School with middle schoolers.

When I was an 8th grader at my middle school, many high schools visited my middle school to recruit students. As a young middle school student, I always wanted to make the right decision for selecting my high school and now I’ve been given a chance to steer younger students in the right direction.

This is a meaningful opportunity because I’m able to connect with these middle school students on a personal level because I’ve been through what they’re currently going through and can understand the stress they are probably going through with selecting high schools.

When I was a student at MS 127,  I was looking for a high school that fit my needs. I felt like I wanted to be in a smaller school so I could have a better relationship with the school and staff but also be in a school with great academics.

When I had a chance to represent my high school at my old middle school, I outlined our school’s strengths. I explained our how school has a high graduation rate and how because it’s a small school, everyone knows you.  I told them that Bronx River proved to be a great choice for me both academically and socially.

Four years later, I’m about to graduate from Bronx River High School:  I know that I’ve made the right choice and I hope that all of these middle schoolers do the same.
