Khasime Norteye views art as a way to express feelings

Art students selected Khasime Norteye, an 11th grade student, as artist of the month.

Q: How long have you been creating art?

A: I have been creating art since I was a child so it’s about 10 years.

Q: What inspires you to create art?

A: I like to use my creativity to make art and show people my artworks.

Q: How does creating art make you feel?

A: Creating art makes me feel relaxed because it helps me express myself.

Q: When it comes to art, what is your preferred tool?

 A: I like to use pencil because it’s easy to find and it’s easy to use.

Q: Did you learn how to draw or already knew how?

A: I already know how to draw because I started drawing when I was a kid.

Q: What would you say is your general skill range?

A: I would say my general skill range is 8 out of 10 because I always can improve my art skills.

Q: Is there anything you have trouble with in the world of art?

A: I sometimes have trouble finding out what to draw.

Q: What is something you see other artists do that you dislike?

A: Not really because art is about how you like to express yourself and how you see the world.

Q: Do you consider pursuing art as a career or prefer doing art as a hobby?

A: I consider pursuing art as a career because there’s so much to do out there using my skills in art.

Q: What piece of art that you’ve done, do you like the most? Why do you like it?

A: The art work I have done so far that I like the most is the self-portrait because it’s realistic and doesn’t take much time to create one and everyone, even a beginner in art can do self portraits.

Q: What’s your favorite type of art style? Why?

A: One of my favorite types of art are animation and cartoon because there’s so much to do when it comes to animation and cartoons.

Q: What does your art mean to you and others

A: For me art is a way to express my emotion and feelings and I want others to feel the same about art because art is about being creative and open-minded.
