Mr. Kodua

Meet Mr Kodua. He is a new member of Bronx River High School teaching staff.  Mr Kodua, a first year teacher at BRHS,   is a special education teacher who co-teaches Geometry.  He earned his associate’s degree from Bronx Community College and his Bachelor’s degree from Hunter College. He enjoys cooking and working as a fitness advisor. He also has experience as an actor and a personal trainer.

When asked about his past high school experience,  he said “ I was the kind of student who did very well in academics  but I was always in the hallways.”

Mr. Kodua said he chose to teach here because  “‘I  grew up in the Bronx and I see me teaching at Bronx River High School as a way giving back to the community and place where I grew up. I see potential in the kids of this school and how much they can provide in the age of change.”

What’s the one thing he’d like students to know about him? “My  high school English teacher was  Meisha Porter, the Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, the largest school system in the nation  and the reason I want students to know that is because it shows that with time, you never know what you or anyone you know can become with enough hard work.”
