As Halloween approaches, trick or treaters are focused on one thing: candy. Obviously there are favorites among the candies. Some common candies that are loved by many are disgusting. They don’t taste good, and I don’t get the hype. Some are absolutely delicious, and the hype is reasonable.
Starting off with some of the bad candies, I’d say Whoppers are definitely up there. They’re like chocolate balls, three in a wrapper, and the flavor is just disgusting. They have a good crunch, but the flavor is milky and a horrid chocolate hint.
Going along with the chocolate candies, Tootsie Rolls, a taffy chocolate candy, doesn’t even taste like good chocolate. It’s a common candy you’ll find in your bags, but it’s the candy that’s left over after you’ve eaten all the good ones. The flavor is tacky, tasting like a sweet chocolate but not an enjoyable sweet chocolate.
Reese’s is not the best but it’s also not the worst. I’m not a huge chocolate fan so this is kind of biased. Peanut butter and chocolate just don’t go together too well, hence why it’s not the best. I would eat it, but never by choice or consistently. It’s definitely a common candy you’ll find in your bag, but not one I would ever reach for.
For a non-chocolate candy, I’d say Life Saver gummies are kind of icky. Their flavor is overpowering and isn’t enjoyable. The sourness is great, but they don’t taste like how they’re labeled. They taste more like sour chemicals than anything else, but it’s not super awful. I would eat these every now and then if they’re the only option.
Some good candies that are commonly looked for have to be Twix. I think chocolate and caramel has to be the best combination ever created for chocolate. Snickers is good, but sometimes the peanuts are overpowering. The saltiness in the peanuts add a good flavor for Snickers.
Starburst is a very good candy. The only bad flavor among the four flavors has to be orange. Red is flavorful, yellow is flavorful, pink is flavorful, but orange is not. It’s too strong of a flavor, and that’s what makes it disgusting. I’d give away the orange one and trade another flavor for it.
This one is very controversial, but Candy Corn is amazing. Candy Corn is the most hated candy, but it’s the one I look forward to the most. Although it does have a waxy texture and the flavor isn’t as strong, the slight sweetness is what makes it delicious.
Lollipops are a common, but good safe bet. I like the Dum Dums mini lollipops with lots of good flavors. Although if it’s orange I won’t eat it. The best flavors are the cotton candy one, root beer, butterscotch, cherry, strawberry and others. You can’t go wrong with these since the flavors are so diverse.
