As the Peer Group Leadership gets ready to start up again, this year’s leaders will be attending a retreat Sept. 25-26 at Camp Ramapo in Rhinebeck.
Camp Ramapo, an action-filled setting offers a variety of activities, including rockclimbing, an advanced rope course and sports, such as basketball, soccer, kickball, flag football and badminton.
Britana Owens, a senior, expects to have a lot of fun. She’s looking forward to having a good time and exploring because she’s never been to upstate New York, but says she’s “scared of getting lost.”
Monique Paes, one of the program’s advisors, wants leaders to feel empowered, grow closer to each other and discover what kind of leader they want to be. She also wants them to discover what type of person they would like to work with. She expects them to work and bond with each and keep an open mind.
Takeiyah Brown, an advisor for PGC, also will be on the trip, helping students get ready to take on their leadership roles when they start working with ninth graders later this fall.
