Here at the Lehman High School campus, Athletic Director Jason Maass and Campus Dean Luke Alvez are working to make sports stand out on social media. With the implementation of media pages representing Lehman athletics, the duo plans to show possible transfers and other individuals what sports here at the Lehman campus really looks like.
They plan to start with two platforms: Twitter(X), and Instagram. On the campus page, they will include sports, such as girls volleyball, girls soccer, boys soccer, boys basketball, and girls basketball. The publicity from the accounts is expected to encourage more students to join Lehman athletic sports and clubs.
The athletic department also has started using Hudl, a sports technology company and livestreaming service that captures sports clips in real time and analyzes game performances. The technology also uses a motional tracking camera that makes the high school game feel like a professional one.
“We really just want to show out what we can do. That’s the goal,” Mr. Alvez said.
With the help of Bronx River students, they’ve put out posters to recruit others to help run the page. With enough help and support, the two believe the new initiatives will help get the Lehman name out there in the world of high school sports.
Adam Lococo, a varsity basketball sports player, is excited to have a global platform for the development of the programs.
“I think we finally have a space to showcase what we can do to professionals, like that can help us get to the next level.” Adam said.
