The school year comes to an end and students reflect on their experiences. They have gone through many encounters whether it’s with their friends, their teachers, or even through clubs.
Scarlette Manzanarez, a senior, says her highlight is “student council because I love student council, being the president, and I love the community that formed with the student council.”
She says the easiest part of this school year for her was “staying connected with my friends, staying close with the teachers that I love. I’m gonna miss seeing Ms. Paes, Ms. Peña, Mr. Himed, all my teachers and all my friends.”
She’s also “excited to finally have a different atmosphere. I know I’ll miss it, but it’s good to not be [too] comfortable.”
Alexander Lyons, a sophomore, says his highlight is “making new friends, meeting new people. When I first came to this school, I met a couple of people who are actually pretty nice and I am close friends with right now.”
He says the easiest part of the school year for him is “definitely the schoolwork, I may not want to do it sometimes, which is the reason my grade has lowered down a little bit, but I’m passing with a 90 average so I’m not worried about it. The hardest part is not making friends; everybody here is sociable, everyone has a good vibe, so it’s pretty hard not to make friends in this school, even as a new person.”
With the end of the school year, Lyons feels “a little sad, but I’m feeling happy because these are new people I can talk to in the summer, new people I can hang out with.”
Myess Hammouri, a junior, says her highlight is “getting to know people in my grade more and hanging out with my friends more. There’s a lot more opportunities to hang out with them.”
“The worst part of this year has definitely been the workload, I’m always stressing out, I always have homework and it’s annoying. My grades have been plummeting so that’s also bad.”
Myess is looking forward to next year. “I’m looking forward to more freedom being a senior, it’s not as strict where I always got to go to Regents prep, go home, do homework. My grades are still going to be good so I might as well chill.”
