At the school’s anime club, members put their anime knowledge to the test in a fun challenge. The goal? To sketch their favorite characters from memory, racing against the clock to see who can draw with the most accuracy and creativity.
The anime club meets every Thursday at 2:45 pm and is advised by Anna-Maria Jack. The club highlights and explores the world of anime through drawing, movie events and lively discussions.
When asked about why she opened the club, she said, “A lot of students came to me asking if we had one and we didn’t at the time, but I was able to find time in my schedule to make the club.” She then added that her favorite anime was “Inuyasha”.
The club started in April 2024. The club hosts different events like ramen parties and bake sales to support the club’s expenses. They also had a party on Valentine’s day where they had pizza and munchkins.
A founding member, Julio Valdez, enjoys the club but wishes more people took part. “I know there’s a lot more people who like anime but don’t have time to go after school so it’s really a shame,” he said.
He added, “When there aren’t any planned events, we watch a short anime series.”
He encourages others to join: “If you like anime it’s definitely worth going to, other than watching anime you can also argue about topics related to anime.”
