As the esports team continues to thrive, the members improve and strengthen their bond with each other. As the majority of players are soon off to college, they reminisce about their last few games and put their best foot forward.

“I think we’re going to win because we were better than last year,” said Alexis Santos, a graduating senior. The first team that scores 13 points wins a round. To prepare for matches, they “warm up every week and do practice games.” A popular school they scrimmage days before games is the Community Health Academy of the Heights.
However, suspicious comments were made at last year’s playoffs about how “honest” they were being. “The coach from that school thought we weren’t being honest because one kid was really good,” said Ruben Santiago, one of the players. Due to esports player, Michael Vega, producing excellent results, the esports team was accused of “cheating,” which was proved invalid.
Despite negative remarks, the esports team focuses on enhancing their skills and chemistry. They have games every Thursday at 3:30 until the end of the season, April 17.
