Jeanny Rodriguez, an incredible artist, was selected by her classmates as Artist of the Month.
Q: How long have you been creating art?
A: Since I was three.
Q: What inspires you to create art?
A: My family inspires me. I have been drawing my family from a young age; it’s kind of generational.
Q: How does creating art make you feel?
A: It makes me happy because when I create art, it makes others happy. I think they can create something with art if they just try.
Q: Are there any artists from the past or today who inspire you?
A: My Dad.
Q: Did you learn how to draw? Or did you just always know how?
A: I learned how to draw. From a young age, I watched my dad. I also used a lot of books and watched videos.
Q: What would you say is your general skill range?
A: I would give myself eight because I feel I am good at art but there are things that I could improve on if I try hard enough.
Q: What’s your favorite type of art style? Why?
A: I’m more of a cartoonist since I like anime. I use references a lot.
Q: Is there anything you have trouble with in the world of art?
A: I have trouble comparing myself to others. I also find it difficult to draw hands and eyes.
Q: What is something you see other artists do that you dislike?
A: Nothing I could really dislike. Everyone does things in different ways.
Q: Are you considering pursuing art as a career or would you prefer doing it as a hobby?
A: I would still do it as a hobby because there are many things I could do instead of art.
Q: What piece of art that you’ve done, do you like the most? Why do you like it? What is its message?
A: The most recent one I did for Ms. Cavazzi. It was a perspective drawing that put out my art in a cartoonist way. Showing how I see the world in my eyes.
