At Bronx River High School, the Art Club is where creativity comes to life – and sometimes, to the walls. Whether capturing the beauty of perspective or splashing bold colors on a canvas, students in the club are busy exploring their artistic talents, one masterpiece at a time. Art is about expressing the inexpressible ….or finding a wall to hang your doodles on.

The heart and soul of the club is Aimee Cavazzi, the art teacher who guides her students through turning blank pages into vibrant works of art. What stands out most to her is how many students underestimate their abilities. “It’s amazing how much creativity is shown, even when students think they can’t do it,” Cavazzi says. She loves watching her students realize just how much potential they have in every grade and class she teaches.
Among those students is junior Joseph Vazquez, who has found his passion for art. When asked what he loves most about creating, he says he enjoys the process of designing and especially loves working with perspective. “It makes the art pop out more,” he explains. For Joseph, it’s not just about drawing – it’s about making his artwork come to life, and art, for him, is the perfect outlet for that interest.
At the end of the day, the Art Club at Bronx River High School is more than just a place to doodle or paint. It’s a space where students can discover their creativity, express themselves in ways words can’t, and learn that sometimes, colors truly do speak louder than words. So, if you ever find yourself wandering the halls, take a moment to stop by the Art Club – the walls (and the students) are waiting to show you something beautiful.
