Members of the Esports team are having their first Esports tournament this school year on Nov. 23 at Georgian Court University in New Jersey. The team hopes to show how much they’ve improved since last year’s tournament when they won second place, said Monique Paes, the team’s coach.
“I was excited the whole time,” said senior Alexis Santos, who was one of the subs for the team Valorant. Jayden Sanchez, another member of the Esports team, clapping with excitement, says he has been looking forward to this event for a long time.
Even though the team relies on each other, Alexis said he doesn’t really practice much because he has night school and must apply for colleges.
This team needs to start getting prepared though if they want to take the championship this year. The seniors are in a tough position on what they should do like they’re having a war inside their minds: college applications vs. video games. Does this affect the timing of practice that they have? Will they have the comeback that they need to win this tournament?Stay tuned. Results will be posted next week.
