Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Many millennials remember the iconic phrase and have seen the original Beetlejuice starring its famous cast, Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara and Alec Baldwin. If you grew up in the 80s, you probably know the original storyline for the first Beetlejuice, but if you did not, here’s a recap: After a couple lose their lives in a car crash, their spirits can’t seem to leave their humble abode. The home was now given to the the character Deetz with the spirits still lingering. In the new house for the Deetz, there’s an attic with a board game. Before Lydia Deetz could even know that playing the game with the ghost himself was just a way to make him free, she unleashed the ghost aka Beetlejuice and all hell broke loose. But, long story short, all hell was restored and Beetlejuice was put away. Or was he?
Soon enough, Beetlejuice himself came to make another appearance. On September 6, with over 4,575 theater releases and all fans running wild, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice or in other words Beetlejuice 2 had made an entry to theaters. The sequel to the original follows the daughter of Lydia Deetz [Winona Ryder], Astrid Deetz [Jenna Ortega], as she makes a mystifying discovery to a gateway to the afterlife. When stubborn Astrid and her family returned to her mothers hometown for an unexpected reunion, she discovered three unraveling words that unleashed the roguish demon once again and to a whole new havoc.
Tim Burton [Director] has outdone himself once again. As most know Burton for his works such as: “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Corpse Bride,” “Alice in Wonderland [live-action],” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and much more. He invented the original Beetlejuice production to be a mockery to death, a seep into the supernatural and a sight of the ‘underworld’ from his point of view. With the original making a large amount of $84 million and winning academy awards, Mr. Burton decided to make a sequel to the original.
Beetlejuice 2 is a comedic thriller worthy movie to watch before Halloween. Gather some friends, family and check out nearby theaters for tickets and scheduled times.
