The students from middle to high school started a new trend: “The Nike Elite Bookbag tags,” a zipper tag that is attached to the zippers of the Nike Elite bookbag. The tags can also be bought separately. Students are collecting tags and many are seen hanging all the collected/stolen tags in the front of their bookbags.
Not everyone is happy. Students inside and outside the school have been complaining that some students’ tags have been stolen from their bookbags.
“This is a new Tik Tok trend,” said Junior Justin Arias. “Some people are stealing strings from others and some are trading their strings to each other. Students are making a collection of strings.”
Junior Adam Alzawkari has joined in the trend. “I traded these strings with another person,” he said. “This is like creativity.”
Austin Zhu, another junior, says he took out some of the strings from his old bookbag and traded some. “This is fun like the Pokemon card. It is the matter of how many colors you have that makes you cooler than someone.”
Roxanne Guzman, a staff member, isn’t a fan because parents pay for their child’s backpack and it’s unnecessary to have this trend. “I think it’s very excessive and uncalled for,” she said.
According to eyewitnesses, students are now gluing their tags on their book bags so that other students wouldn’t be able to steal them. Now it remains to be seen whether they will still keep maintaining this trend or decide to move on to a new current. But for now, it’s what’s hot.
