Students and staff will dress up for Halloween this year on Oct. 31. But before then, a few stopped to think about favorites from the past.
“My favorite thing I’ve dressed up as in the past has either been a Crazy Lady costume or a Ladybug,”says Belinda Edwards, an 11th grader. “The Crazy Lady was my no-budget costume, I wore some random clothes and my hair was messy. I did some messy makeup, and bam, that was the Crazy Lady.”
Starr Giscombe, an assistant principal, hasn’t thought about her costume yet. She says, “I’ve done Power Rangers, Ninjas. I’ve done all kinds of costumes myself; now that I’ve been working I don’t have the time to dress up for Halloween.” She adds, “My favorite costume was a group SWAT team costume, with all my friends.”
Scarlette Manzanarez, a 12th grader, says she typically dresses up as a tradition each Halloween. She says she enjoys Halloween because “It fits my aesthetic. I like skulls. I like the style of Halloween.”
Samya Khalian, an 11th grader, is making her own costume this year. Previously, her favorite costume was Strawberry Shortcake as a kid. She says she likes Halloween because “it gives me an excuse to dress up.”
Students at Bronx River have been creative with their Halloween costumes in the past, and with this upcoming Halloween, costumes will only get more creative.
