As school reopens, students transition from summer vacation to back to school. After two long months, the question on everyone’s mind: How did people spend their summer? And what were the highlights?
Sanjay Persaud, freshman at Bronx River, enjoys the wedding he went to over the summer. Persaud had an adventurous summer: “I went to Canada, ” he said. Even though Persaud says he almost drowned during his vacation, he rated his summer experience a 10 out of 10.
Senior Gabriella Pinelli got her permit over the summer. “I went to Pennsylvania and visited Jim Thorpe, where I hung out with my best friend.” Overall, Pinelli could only rate her summer a 8 out of 10. “It was too short,” she says
Trelson Peacock, a sophomore, mostly stayed home and did lots of chores. Trelson says his summer was “lazy, slow and chaotic.” Toward the end of summer, he prepared for the new year as he got a haircut and got a new uniform for the school year. He enjoyed watching squirrels, babysitting and watching his favorite TV show called “Charm.” Overall he rated his summer an 8 out of 10.
Belinda Edwards, junior, enjoyed her summer with her friends and family. “Went to the pool, hung out with friends, and had lots of sleepovers,” she said, even though she was hoping to get a job during her summer break. She also attended college classes. She rated her summer an 8 out of 10 because she was hoping for a better summer.
Amber Rivera, a freshman, went to her dad’s house and traveled to Pennsylvania. She stated that the summer was “fun, adventurous, quirky.” She enjoyed some summer activities like swimming and roller skating. Her favorite part was the water park she went to in Atlanta.. She rated this summer a 7 out of 10 as it wasn’t too bad but it could have been better.
“I got to spend time with my little sister” said Alexa Figueroa, a sophomore. “Didn’t do much but I did get to spend time with my family because I don’t see them often.” She also mentions that over the summer she helped Tene Kelly, an assistant principal, with freshmen and their parents. After all, she gave her summer a 7 out of 10.
