Meet Kalniesha Joseph, one of the new teachers at Bronx River High school. Graduating from Hunter College with a master’s in education and John Jay college with a bachelor’s in sociology, Ms. Joseph first started off as a volunteer for teaching.
Later on, when she cemented her love for teaching younger crowds, she decided to teach at a middle school. After four years of teaching at a middle school, she decided to have a change of scenery and come to a high school to teach older students. She says that after teaching middle school, “I found patience for teenagers.”
Bronx River particularly caught her eye, because she “liked the idea of a small school.’’ Although she is now co-teaches Global 10 and Reading, her favorite subject in school was ELA.
Ms. Joseph’s hobbies include watching TV, traveling, social media and reading, with one of her favorite genres being social justice and finding a love for the books by William Bernhardt.
One thing that she would like all her students to know is that everyone should “Respect all: You don’t gotta like them, just respect them.”
