Bronx River students wrote and acted in a play about a magical pair of glasses during several performances at the YESfest at the Five Angels Theater in Manhattan this month. The play focused on a pair of glasses that had the potential to change lives for better or worse.
The student actors – Gabriel Gallardo, Annkiara Bourdeau, Belinda Edwards, Daniella Padigas, Jahayme Lamar, Mia Lappe and Alexa Figueroa – are members of Opening Act, a campus-wide acting program that sponsors the annual program highlighting student work.
The program, which has been operating in New York City for 23 years, will start up again in the fall. Students can enroll in this program for free, and there are several advantages as well. Free Broadway play tickets, college field trips, cultural events, scholarships, and more are available to students who are a member of this community.
