The Valorant team won second place in the recent Garden States Esports tournament in New Jersey. “We lost to the Mercer County Tech-Wizards, but the crowd was extremely excited to see the Bronx play and represent their borough as a first time NYC High School at a New Jersey League,” Monique Paes, the gaming club advisor, says.
Though the team didn’t win first place, teachers and students celebrated their accomplishments.
“The Huskies Valorant team needs more exposure to tournament setting so they can be better prepared to win the championship next year,” Ms. Paes adds. Despite the team not being used to playing on a stage or being inexperienced in going to tournaments, they made it very far. “Ruben was able to top frag and Static (Carlos) maintained the team’s cool and balance,” she notes.
The team hopes to come back next year and win first place.
