The school’s Hispanic Club offers students an enriching opportunity to explore the unique history of Hispanic culture and heritage. Every Wednesday from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm, students gather in Room 453 to be accompanied by advisers Alfa Aquino and Jemny Santana.
“The purpose of this club is to celebrate the Hispanic contribution to the society and inspire non-Hispanics about the culture,’’ says Ms. Aquino. The club participates in a variety of activities that highlight its diversity. ‘’
The club provides a dynamic platform for cultural immersion and appreciation, from exciting dances like salsa, bachata, and dembow to wonderful culinary activities like making tacos and burritos.
AnnKiara Bourdeau, one of the club’s enthusiastic members, was lured in by the opportunity to learn more about Hispanic culture. She particularly appreciated the cooking activities, which were both informative and enjoyable.
Naomi Oyenuga, another dedicated member, joined the Hispanic Club to learn more about Hispanic culture. She discovered a “welcoming environment full of great food and positive attitudes.”
Naomi wishes for more students to join the club, recognizing its potential to promote more cultural understanding and appreciation among the school community members.
Belinda Edwards, another club member, said, “I want to learn more about my Hispanic heritage.” Seeking to learn more about her Hispanic heritage, she saw the club as an opportunity to not only study her roots but also actively participate in a supportive and welcoming community. Belinda aspires to see the club become more diverse, inviting members of all genders and backgrounds to celebrate Hispanic culture.
