Priscilla Pol, an 11th grade student, shares her views on being a part of the track team.
Q: What sport are you playing this season?
A: The sport I play is indoor track.
Q: How long have you been playing?
A: I started track in September 2023.
Q: What inspired you to play this sport?
A: I like to work out my mental and physical health.
Q: What is your position on the team?
A: My position is a long distance runner in the team.
Q: What is the best part about playing this sport?
A: The best part is being on a great team and getting better at each of my track races.
Q: What is the most challenging part about practicing in the sport?
A: The most challenging part about track is trying to get a new personal record in the 1500. (Her PR right now is 8 minutes, 3 seconds.)
Q: Describe what a typical meet or game is like?
A: It’s very stressful, fun and exciting at the same time.
Q: How do you feel like the season is going so far?
A: I feel really good so far.
Q: How have you improved from last year?
A: I have gotten better at my practice and I’m getting better at PR races.
Q: What advice do you have for others who want to participate in this sport?
A: One advice I would give others is to not give up and stick to your goal or plan.
Q: What are you and your team’s goals for this season?
A: My team goal for this season is to make it to the state championship.
Q: When you graduate from high school, do you plan to continue playing any sport?
A: When I graduate I plan to continue to do track in college.
