With guidance from science teachers Sabrina Alkayfee and Charley Ruperto, students desiged solar-powered cars as a project for chemistry class this fall.
The cars are electric and made from raw materials.
Ms. Alkayfee says the students were given “raw materials like glue guns, tires and propellers.”
“The cars are solar powered and they actually work,” she said.
The students were put in teams of six for this project.
“Some of our students want to be electricians and engineers, so we wanted to add more engineering into the class for them,” she said.
The cars are put in motion when the wires at the opposite ends are put together and make an electrical reaction that powers the car.
